The Eastern Produce Council has rescheduled its annual Golf Outing in light of the current coronavirus situation.
"Due to the uncertainty of New Jersey re-opening for large gatherings around COVID-19 and the safety of our members, our golf committee has decided to postpone our June Golf Outing to September," the council noted in an April 30 email.
In past years, about 100-120 golfers took part in the Golf Outing each year.
Originally set to take place June 6, the 45th annual Golf Outing is now scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 12, at a new location: Fox Hollow Golf Club in Branchburg, NJ, around 45 miles west of New York City.
Application and details on the golf outing will be announced in the weeks ahead.
"So we have a packed schedule of events for the fall," EPC Executive Director Susan McAleavey Sarlund told The Produce News.
In addition to the Golf Outing, the annual Tailgate Event is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 29, at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ, sponsored by the Idaho Potato Commission and Litehouse Inc. And the sixth annual Joe DeLorenzo Family Apple Picking event is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 3, at Melick's Cider Mill & Orchard in Oldwick, NJ. This event is named after Joseph DeLorenzo, a former president of the council.
