Seeded Produce LLC, a grower-packer-shipper, will launch its first full season of operation this October. Omar Losolla, who launched the company in February 2020, shipped Mexican produce through the spring and summer.
On Sept. 4 he indicated he is prepared for shipping a diverse product line through the fall winter and spring.
Seeded is packing and shipping vegetables in a bright pink box under the Seeded label. The firm is using another label, “Palm Boy” for its fruit. The Seeded label will involve brussels sprouts, winter squash, American and English cucumbers, eggplant, green beans, summer squash and hot peppers. Shipped in Palm Boy containers will be mini-watermelon, regular seedless watermelon, honeydew, and cantaloupe. Losolla is “providing a full line for our customers.”Omar Losolla
Seeded is growing or sourcing with allied growers ranging from Caborca, in northern Sonora, to Sayula, Jalisco. Losolla is working with Sonora packinghouses in Caborca, Hermosillo, Guaymas, Obregon, Navojoa, and also in Sayula; plus, Leon, Guanajuato, and Culiacan, Sinaloa.
The company has leased office and warehousing space in the Wilson Produce building in Nogales.
Losolla is bullish with a fast start on his business. “I have a lot of experience in the produce business, and learned the importance of leadership and discipline, hard work, drive and perseverance.” He also understands that strong business ethics are a critical part of success.
“On the marketing side, I grew to learn and understand how to best position ourselves in the market," he said. "I learned from people who gave me the tools to be successful. I have an unwavering desire to be the best at what I do. People may have talent and know-how. But they may not have the drive and passion to do what they have to do to be successful. I get it done.”
He said complete ownership of his own company “is a dream come true. I’ve worked all my life for this.”
The first year of his produce career began in 1997 with USDA. He has been involved in produce procurement, sales, and management since 1998.
