The Vineland Produce Auction in Vineland, NJ, has updated its website with more information, new graphics and links to its buyers/brokers.

There are new photos on the site, including some vintage photos going back to the early days of the auction, which has been farmer owned and operated since 1931. In fact, some of the families on both the broker/buyer and farmer sides have been with the auction since the first day, the auction noted.

The site now lists its buyers/brokers with links to their websites. Also now there is a listing of what produce is currently available and what items should be available in two weeks. Information is on the site regarding the services offered by the auction to the buyers and growers.

And for the first time, the site offers recipes detailing how to use the wide variety of produce items that the auction handles. Those recipes will change as the season progresses and different items become available.

Weather is always a determining factor in when the auction opens each year. As to when things might get started this year, the auction's Carol DeFoor told The Produce News Monday, March 23, "I feel it will be an early start, perhaps around mid-April."

She added that as an essential service in the state of New Jersey, all brokers should be able to buy right at the auction site, as usual, but should this change, "they will be able to buy remotely if necessary."
